For many people commissioning a piece of stained glass might be something they only ever do once. In fact it may be the only piece of “artwork” they ever commission as it serves both a practical purpose in their home as well as being a colourful artistic object. I can guide you through the process using my extensive experience of dealing with commissions and creating glass that is suited to the client and the location. I have a set procedure for understanding a clients needs and if you are interested in understanding that more then please click HERE to download a free PDF guidance sheet on how to begin that process.

As a simple guide, I need to establish your design, your choice of colours and any details which you may require. If this can be done smoothly and efficiently then we can reduce the overall cost considerable. I have had clients where the final creating of the design has taken 3 times longer than making it!! So the better able you are to communicate your requirements and agree a design the easier and quicker the process will be.

If you want to email me with details of your commission then please include the following information

  • Type of design including any images you may have as inspiration

  • Exact Size of aperture (including the area within the beading or putty) often a template may be required for irregular openings.

  • Colours you require, often working with those present in woodwork or decor

  • Photos of the location for example a hallway from a number of angles

  • The turnaround time you require

  • Further details such a security requirements (for example security bars or protective toughened glass in front of the stained glass)

From these details I can normally suggest a "ballpark" estimate figure. I would normally make a site visit to understand the location and any constraints or inspirations that might come from it. Variants of a design can then be produced and finally the panel can be made and installed.
