As a professional working in heritage building and renovation the central core of my build-craft skills are based in the wet trades of Lime Plastering, Cob rebuilding & renovation. However I have also always worked with stone, from holiday jobs dry stone walling in my teens through to training with a Master Mason and worked on Church and domestic stone renovations and restorations. Creating an even appearing and regularised wall from rough stone is an art in itself. This knowledge finds connection to my other areas of practice where damaged stonework mullions and leaded glasswork coincide. I also try to ensure the conservation of existing materials, this approach reduces waste and often needless cost and disruption. I follow new research and embrace new innovative materials and methods which are sympathetic to heritage construction such as the use of glass fibre reinforcement in mortars or stainless steel helical bar and resin in pinning and crack bridging.
